Sweat With Style

July 14, 2016

Thinking of resting on rest day? Think again. I’ve got some new gym hairstyles for you to try out before you hit the squat rack tomorrow. Luckily, these styles won’t make you sweat nearly as much.

One of my best friends Erin, Long Island based certified personal trainer and power lifting enthusiast, has come up with her 4 favorite ab exercises to go along with the 4 workout hairstyles I’ve created with her as my model! So when you’re done here, head over to her site to check those out!

Erin looks adorable as always in her before picture, but leaving your hair down for the gym is no way to get an effective workout in. Luckily, she left my house all decked out and ready to do some deadlifts.

Space Buns

This look can take you from the gym to a party! Or a benefit concert in a gentrified area in Brooklyn! (Lol) They’re super easy and cute for any hair type. Try them out next time you don’t feel like eating your hair every time you try to do a plank. You’ll thank me later.

Half Up French Braids

These are great for hair of any length. After a traumatizing hair modeling experience left me looking like Kiera Knightley in Bend It Like Beckham, this was my only hope at getting my hair off my face. I wore it to yoga three times a week and it was such a lifesaver.

Not Your Mother’s Gym Ponytail

Time to get fancy. Don’t know how to French braid? This one’s for you. Just pull your hair into a high ponytail and then wrap a piece around to hide the elastic. Then, braid, secure, mess it up a little, and hide the bottom elastic as well. Done! This works for running errands too. You never know who you’ll run into!

Fancy Shmancy Intense French Braided Updo Thing

If you have a better name, please let me know immediately. This is actually much easier than it looks. I just created two French braids and tucked the ends into the side of the opposite braid. I used a bobby pin or two to secure, and then I was done!

Now that you've got a few days worth of new hairstyles for the gym, be sure to check out erinhaftfitness.com for some new exercises to implement into your next workout! You can also find Erin on Instagram @haft2train!!
