Summer-Ready Beauty and Sustainable Style: A Whimsical Look Book

June 12, 2016

Hi guys!

My beautiful friend Maddy and I finally got to collaborate after months and months of planning. Maddy makes clothes and accessories out of everything from thrift store finds to tablecloths! She’s all about sustainable and ethical practices in fashion and believes that great style is possible without causing harm to the environment or other people. We got together and styled 3 outfits using some of Maddy’s latest projects, and I came up with a heatproof hair and makeup look that complements the Wes Anderson-y vibe of her clothes. Check it out!

Beauty:

Before and After

The hair for this look is super easy. Just create two french braids (we threw in a zig zag part just for fun), and secure with clear elastics. Then, pin the braids on top of your head and try to hide the bobby pins. That’s it!

I tried to keep the makeup simple too, because a melted, cakey face is never cute but all too common come the summer months.

Skin: I applied a primer with a large stippling brush, and then added a lightweight foundation, blending with a damp beauty blender. Next, I used a liquid concealer under Maddy’s eyes, and set everything with a light dusting of pressed powder. Finally, I lightly contoured her cheekbones, added a little blush, and highlighted her cheekbones and the bridge of her nose.

Eyes: First, I primed the eyes as always. Then, I used a fluffy brush to blend a medium tan shade into her crease. Next, I used a shimmery champagne color on her lids and under her brow bone. We finished off the eyes with a coat of mascara and some clear brow gel.

Lips: I started by lining Maddy’s lips with a berry lip liner. Then I filled them in with a similar lipstick color. Lastly, I just cleaned up the edges with concealer and a small, flat brush.

Fashion:

Look #1: This gorgeous dress was part of last year’s Dwight Schrute Halloween costume! Maddy worked her magic using something in her closet to create something new.

Look #2: Tablecloths are for wearing! Can you believe this adorable skirt was once stored away somewhere in the kitchen?

Look #3: This skirt looks like something I’d buy in a fancy boutique somewhere in a quaint little village. Luckily, you don’t have to go far for this style! Maddy creates custom orders to create perfectly fitting garments that you’ll get tons of use out of.

Check out Maddy's website and follow her on Instagram @EulaliaThreads! Email or direct message her for custom orders!

I hope you found some garden-fairy-picnic-esque inspiration in our little summer style collab!

Xoxo,
