Today, I attended The Makeup Show NYC (a beauty junkie’s heaven) and 5 of my fave purchases were just too fab not to share! I bought a few things for my kit that will enhance my business as a freelance makeup artist, and threw in a few colorful treats just to keep me going. Everything was 40-50% off, I couldn’t help myself!
1. RCMA No-Color Powder
Every freelancer knows the struggle of having to lug around a library of different colored powders. Well today, I just may have found the solution. This setting powder is the ultimate chameleon. Containing no pigment, perfume or fillers, this is completely universal with the ability to match every beautiful unique and diverse skin tone that exists.
2. Cinema Secrets Pro Cosmetics Makeup Brush Cleaner
Cleaning makeup brushes is a tedious task that should be done at least every two weeks. For my
personal brushes, I try to save time by simply taking them into the shower with me. But when I’m on the job, I find myself wasting half a bottle of dish soap. And STILL, I feel that my brushes are never 100% clean and sanitized. This nifty little makeup cleaner not only eliminates the need for water, but it kills 99% of germs, along with being super quick drying, allowing your brushes to be as ready as you are.
3. Inglot Shimmery Blue Lipstick – 292
I have been on the lookout for the perfect shade of midnight Navy lipstick for sometime now, and I finally found it - not too light, not too dark, just sparkly enough. Feeling this bold look? Add some mascara, a little foundation, and let your lips do the talking.
4. Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipstick – Requiem
I have the biggest girl crush on this ink-covered beauty, and Kat Von D is such a muse in the makeup industry, for good reason. This liquid matte lipstick goes on like butter, and dries like paint. Requiem is the perfect shade of grayish lilac- think dainty meets edgy. Watch out Kylie, Kat is killin’ the game.
5. NYX Soft Matte lip cream – SMLC34 Dubai
This silky smooth lip cream not only goes on like butter, but it smells like sweet cocoa too. I love love love this formula because it doesn’t dry out your lips like a traditional matte lipstick does, but rather gives your pout a little love by moisturizing and hydrating along with a bold matte finish. This lip product is also creamy and smooth enough to allow you to play makeup scientist by mixing and blending a few of your favorite lip colors together.
My post-trade show Sunday afternoon experiment consisted of me excitedly trying on my new lip shades for my roommate. After trying on the Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipstick, I was anxious to try on this indulgent dark brown shade. To avoid wasting any product, I mixed them together, and out popped a stunning fusion of dark sultry brown with a grayish purple tint. Play around; you never know which two colors may be the perfect complement.
